Food Service on the Move
Operators of rail and airline food services need a way to monitor storage conditions of their ‘Food on the Move’. By tracking the conditions experienced by products at unit or pack level, decisions can be taken on reuse or disposal of unsold food.
The Timestrip neo Multi is ideal for these applications. When a consignment of food is shipped and returned to base, the multiple-use temperature sticker can be checked, and the indicator reset for its next journey. The presence of a temperature monitoring system can remove the need for more expensive and complex control systems.
Typical conditions monitored include: tracking temperatures above 8ºC for 2 and 4 hours, or monitoring food for short-term display e.g. 8 hours.
Timestrip neo Multi
Timestrip neo Multi is a range of multiple-use temperature and time indicators developed especially for applications such as ‘Food Service on the Move’. The Timestrip neo Multi shares all the features of the popular neo range: it’s robust, accurate very small and lightweight, and suitable for attaching to products small or large.
But here’s the difference: the neo Multi non-reversible temperature indicator can be used up to five times before being replaced.
Game changing electronic temperature indicators
- Small and light - can be placed directly onto products or onto primary or secondary packaging.
- User-Friendly - designed with simplicity in mind. Clear and intuitive LED displays make it easy for consumers, retailers, and suppliers to monitor temperature conditions without any specialized training.
- Real-Time Monitoring - temperature deviations are immediately detected, allowing for swift corrective action.
- Customization: Timestrip neo is available customized to suit specific requirements: different temperature ranges, time intervals, indications and even branding.
- Cost-Effective – resettable neo Multi offer an even more efficient solution for temperature monitoring.
The reusable feature reduces the cost per use and simplifies inventory control. By avoiding the need to dispose of indicators after each use, it also represents a move towards sustainability, reducing waste by up to 80%.
- Indicator can be used up to five times for even higher cost effectiveness
- Accuracy better than +/- 0.5ºC
- Convenient, reduces inventory required
- Simple to use and reset using Timestrip’s dedicated reset device
- Tamper proof resetting
Using neo Multi indicators, passenger safety can be safeguarded, and unnecessary food waste avoided.
Food Service on the Move other temperature applications
US national rail transport carrier Amtrak used a 4-hour 8°C time and temperature indicator (TTI) (Timestrip Food Temp 8°C/46°F)
The procedure Amtrak involves the last crew of the day placing numerous Food Temp labels on the tops of food containers before leaving the train in the evening, avoiding the need to remove food from the trains overnight. The following day, the first crew can check whether any of the refrigeration units have had a breach of temperature, and take appropriate action.
A significant time and cost saving was realised for Amtrak.
“This has saved the Los Angeles hub over $337,000 in one year” stated a senior Amtrak manager.
Timestrip indicators used in aviation food monitoring also include the Timestrip Food Temp 8ºC TP349. This indicator shows a clear irreversible alert at 8ºC - i.e. if the food goes above normal chill temperature.
This tamper-proof, single-use, light weight indicator monitors cumulative temperature breaches during the entire transportation and storage process, ensuring that passenger safety is safeguarded.
Timestrip indicators help airlines to ensure that they are following strict standards and regulations, including Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), among many others.
